Labor Secretary Chavez-DeRemer Forced to Resign Over Strip Club Trips, Drinking, and Her Husband Sexually Assaulting Staffers

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer's top two aides — Chief of Staff Jihun Han and Deputy Chief Rebecca Wright — were forced to resign in early March 2026 amid an inspector general investigation into a “toxic” workplace, verbal abuse of staffers, and wasting departmental resources.

In a more disturbing detail, two female staffers accused Chavez-DeRemer's husband, Dr. Shawn DeRemer, of sexual assault inside the DOL building. He was banned from DOL headquarters in February 2026.

The IG investigation also covers allegations that Chavez-DeRemer has been drinking on the job and has an “inappropriate” relationship with a member of her security detail. Her fired aides are separately accused of trying to steer department grants to favored political operatives.

Han and Wright were given just 24 hours to resign. The combination of sexual assault by the Secretary's husband inside a federal building, an IG investigation into the Secretary herself, and the forced resignation of her top staff paints a picture of an agency in complete dysfunction — led by someone Trump personally selected.
