The Official Who Built DHS's Immigration Transparency Quits, Citing a 'War on Immigrants,' a 'War on Facts,' and 'Brazen Corruption'

Marc Rosenblum, the executive director of the Office of Homeland Security Statistics, resigned in late July 2026 after a decade at the department. He announced it in a LinkedIn post that named his reasons plainly: “the war on immigrants, the war on feds, and the war on facts (not to mention the crazy war in Iran and the brazen corruption).”

Rosenblum is not a random departure. He spent years working to make DHS more transparent and spearheaded the effort to publish, for the first time, data on immigration arrests and deportations. Very few officials have left the department and criticized its direction openly, which makes the person who built its statistical honesty resigning over a “war on facts” a pointed signal.

The numbers he helped make public show the machine he was describing. According to ICE data, agents arrested 43,138 immigrants in June 2026, the highest monthly total since Trump returned to office, with more than 65,700 people in ICE detention as of July 11 and over 590,000 deported since January 2025. The official responsible for counting the deportations honestly walked out citing the corruption around them.
