Video Shows ICE Agents Pinning a Long Beach Man Who Screamed His Arm Was Broken. ICE Says He Smashed a Mirror

On October 17, 2026, ICE agents in Long Beach, California, pinned Ricardo Gonzalez, a former city employee riding an e-bike, to the ground as he yelled, “Help me, my arm is broken,” CNN reported. Long Beach police took him to a fire station and he was then taken to a hospital. His family says he is a U.S. citizen born in California; CNN said it was working to verify that. Mayor Rex Richardson filed a complaint with the DHS inspector general and said the agents must be pulled off the streets and investigated, the Long Beach Post reported.

ICE said, “ICE did NOT hit an individual on a bike. An individual was arrested after he smashed the mirror of a government vehicle. Resisting arrest is dangerous and can result in injury,” and that agents “used the minimum amount of force.” A witness said the agents' vehicle struck him; surveillance video does not show whether it did. The extent of his injury is based on his own words on video and his family's account.
