On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) appeared on NBC's Meet the Press and accused Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche of unlawfully withholding Jeffrey Epstein documents. “Todd Blanche is violating the law,” Massie said, adding that “there's still millions of files they haven't released” and that the 302 forms collected from victims' attorneys have not been turned over.
Massie also said the First Lady understands the scope of the Epstein case despite her public denials of any connection. “Even Melania doesn't believe that. The first lady knows that Jeffrey Epstein didn't act alone,” he said. The First Lady's office did not respond to a request for comment.
Massie, who lost his Kentucky primary on May 16 after Hegseth campaigned against him, said he intends to use the privileged-debate procedure of his Epstein Files Transparency Act to read redacted Epstein names from the House floor before his term ends in January 2027. He and Rep. Ro Khanna had earlier publicly named billionaire Leon Black, banker Jes Staley, and businessman Leslie Wexner among Epstein associates, along with six others they described as likely implicated.
The documents Massie is demanding are controlled by Acting AG Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel — both Trump appointees.
