On January 20, 2026, the Democratic staff of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released an interim staff analysis titled “Professionalized Corruption” and subtitled “How Donald Trump is abusing power and accepting digital kickbacks from foreign and criminal interests to cash in on the presidency like never before,” together with a public web tracker, the “Trump Family Digital Grift Wealth Tracker.” It is the work of the minority party's staff, not a finding of the committee, a court or an agency, and it is labeled interim. It contains no response from the White House, the Trump Organization or World Liberty Financial.
The analysis states three headline figures as of January 2026: a lower limit of nearly $2.25 billion in what it calls risk-free profits already realized by the Trump family from digital-asset ventures; as much as $9.72 billion once the market value of token holdings is added; and, inside the realized profits, at least $436 million that staff attribute to foreign interests. “Risk-free” and the grouping “foreign payments, corrupt businessmen, and others” are the staff's characterizations, and the numbers rest on assumptions that the methodology appendix spells out.
The realized total has four lines. The first is World Liberty Financial token sales. Staff added $550 million in sales as of March 2025, $125 million in further sales announced in April and June 2025 (the appendix lists it under April) and $1.5 billion in August 2025, subtracted $50 million for an “assumed and estimated” 3 percent underwriting fee and other costs, and took the 75 percent Trump share under World Liberty's Gold Paper, for $1.594 billion.
The second is interest on the USD1 stablecoin: about $20 million so far, by a formula built on the number of USD1 coins issued, the interest rate, elapsed time, World Liberty's share of the interest and the Trump share of World Liberty's revenue. The third is $TRUMP memecoin sales: $336 million, Reuters' estimate for the first half of 2025. The Trump Organization's share of the coin's revenue is unstated, and Reuters conservatively estimates it at 50 percent.
The fourth is $TRUMP trading fees: the $320 million that Chainalysis data showed the coin's creators earning from January to May 2025, less about 5 percent that went to the exchange Meteora, attributed in full to the Trump Organization “until Celebration Cards LLC makes available information indicating otherwise.” By our arithmetic that line comes to about $304 million (the appendix does not state it), and the four lines add to about $2.25 billion, so roughly 70 percent of the total is World Liberty token sales. The analysis leaves out income from insider and informed memecoin sales because staff could not get enough data to estimate it.
The foreign figure is the sum of three estimates. About $253 million comes from World Liberty sales: staff assumed that 50 percent of the revenue on the first $675 million of token sales came from foreign sources, then applied the 75 percent Trump share. About $15 million comes from USD1 interest, 75 percent of the $20 million, because most USD1 in circulation traces to the $2 billion United Arab Emirates purchase that financed a deal with Binance. About $168 million comes from memecoin sales, 50 percent of the $336 million, because public reporting found many attendees at the memecoin dinner were foreign nationals.
Those three add to $436 million. The appendix describes the first as foreign governments paying the president, but its stated basis is foreign purchasers generally, and it dates that estimate “August 13, 2026,” which cannot be right in a January 2026 document and is presumably a typo for 2025.
The $9.72 billion adds the market value of tokens the Trump entities hold: about 795 million $TRUMP tokens (“as much as $4.5 billion at current prices”) and the 15.75 billion World Liberty tokens that financial disclosures show Trump holding personally (“over $2.9 billion”). Staff caution that “the actual liquidation value of coins is inherently uncertain.” The report does not show the addition, and the value moves with price: BBC reported the same 15.75 billion tokens at more than $3.4 billion on September 2, 2025. On October 26, 2026, the price file the tracker page loads listed World Liberty's token at about 5.3 cents and $TRUMP at $1.70.
We checked the building blocks against independent reporting the analysis itself cites. Reuters' October 28, 2025 investigation calculated that the Trump Organization's first-half 2025 income rose to $864 million from $51 million a year earlier, with $802 million of it from crypto ventures, including $463 million from World Liberty token sales and $336 million from $TRUMP, the figure the staff adopt. Reuters said the memecoin estimate carries “a higher degree of uncertainty” than the token-sale estimates. CoinDesk, citing Chainalysis, reported the $320 million in trading fees and the roughly 5 percent that went to Meteora. BBC reported the 15.75 billion tokens from Trump's disclosures.
The component with no matching independent tally is the August 2025 deal with Alt5 Sigma. Reuters reported that Alt5 said it had raised $750 million and that, on that basis, “the Trumps stood to gain about $500 million.” Decrypt reported the August 11 announcement as a plan to raise up to $1.5 billion. The staff count $1.5 billion less $50 million at 75 percent, about $1.09 billion, close to half of their $2.25 billion. BBC noted that the arrangement put World Liberty “in the unusual position of being both buyer and seller” of its own token.
The tracker page's running counters are not findings. Its script starts the profits counter at $2,441,477,328.33 and the foreign counter at $623,312,500.00, adds a per-second amount tied to the quantity of USD1 in circulation (the foreign counter takes 75 percent of it), and computes the total-wealth counter from live token prices. When we loaded the page on October 26, 2026, they read about $2.479 billion, $4.667 billion and $651 million and were rising by a few dollars every few seconds.
None of those matches a figure in the report, and the page's own text gives yet another foreign number, “as much as $600 million,” against the report's “at least $436 million.” Only the report's figures, with their January 2026 date, are the staff's published findings.
The analysis pairs the money with administration actions: the Securities and Exchange Commission's pause of its case against Justin Sun, the October 2025 pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao and the United Arab Emirates' later access to advanced computer chips. It says “the strong appearance of a corrupt quid pro quo understanding” makes an investigation Congress's responsibility. That is the staff's framing of an appearance; the report does not claim to prove an exchange.
The White House has rejected the broader charge. After the World Liberty token began trading, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, as BBC reported, that “Neither the President nor his family have ever engaged, or will ever engage, in conflicts of interest.” In a letter to Reuters, World Liberty's lawyer called the news agency's valuation and income analysis “Inaccurate and Misleading.”
