Trump's April 6, 2026 press conference — ostensibly about the rescue of two airmen shot down over Iran — devolved into one of the most unhinged presidential performances in American history.
He called former President Biden “mentally r------d” twice, attributing it to Kim Jong Un: “He used to call Joe Biden a mentally r------d person.” This was the third known time he's used the slur about political opponents.
He threatened to jail journalists who reported on the missing airman: “We're going to go to the media company that released it, and we're going to say, 'National security. Give it up or go to jail.'” He added: “The person that did the story will go to jail if he doesn't say.”
When asked about war crimes, he dismissed the question entirely: “No, not at all, no. I'm not” concerned. He declined to rule out targeting schools: “I don't wanna talk about it.” He threatened: “Every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o'clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business, burning, exploding and never to be used again.”
He announced he would run for president of Venezuela: “After the presidency, I think I may go to Venezuela and run for president. I will quickly learn Spanish.” Venezuela's constitution requires the president to be Venezuelan-born.
He claimed Iranians want to be bombed: “Please keep bombing. Do it. They want to hear bombs because they want to be free.” He called Iranians “animals.”
He claimed to know God's mind: “God was watching us. God doesn't like what's happening. I don't like what's happening.” When asked if God supports the Iran war: “I do because God is good.”
He contradicted his own military in real time — claiming “no casualties of any kind” in the rescue. Gen. Caine then confirmed American service members were injured.
He claimed Iran has “no Navy, no Air Force, no anti-aircraft weaponry” — days after Iran shot down a U.S. F-15.
Earlier that day at the Easter Egg Roll, he told confused children that Biden “was incapable of signing things” and that they could sell his autograph on eBay “for $25,000.”
