Facing a backlash over his Iran framework, Trump defended it through a series of erratic public moments. After flying back from the G7 in France, he posted on Truth Social at 4:32 a.m. on June 18, 2026: “These fools, who think I haven't been tough enough on Iran, when the Stock Market Just Hit A RECORD HIGH, and Oil prices are 'tumbling' down, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
At the G7, defending the deal, Trump said Iranians “laughed at Obama, and said he's a stupid son of a bitch,” while attacking the cash payment the Obama administration made to Iran in 2016. His White House distributed talking points for allies to repeat (“American families are the big winners”), and Trump told Axios he had agreed to the deal in part because of flattery from France's Emmanuel Macron. In a separate Axios interview, he said there were “no limits” to his power: “We defeated them totally militarily.”
As the framework wobbled over the following days, Trump posted a Truth Social poll asking whether his opponents should be spelled “Dumocrat” or “Dumbocrat” (see Trump's Iran War Framework Trades an Open Strait of Hormuz for $300 Billion in Reconstruction and a Reversal on Enrichment, Trump Posts a Record 861 Times in a Month, Then Appears to Doze Off in an Oval Office Briefing, as Questions About His Fitness Grow).
