Trump Blames 'Genetics' for Violent Attacks in a Fox News Interview, Echoing Eugenics Rhetoric

On March 13, 2026, Trump called into Fox News Radio's 'The Brian Kilmeade Show' and blamed 'genetics' for recent violent attacks, stating: 'They're sick people, and a lot of them were let in here. They shouldn't have been let in. Others are just bad. They go bad. Something wrong — there's something wrong there. The genetics are not exactly, they're not exactly your genetic.'

Trump was referencing three recent incidents: an improvised explosive outside Gracie Mansion in NYC, a shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia that killed one and injured two, and a car ramming at Temple Israel synagogue in Michigan. He attributed the attacks to immigration, claiming attackers 'came in a lot through Biden.'

The remarks echo eugenics rhetoric — the pseudoscientific belief that certain groups have inherently inferior or dangerous genetics. Trump has previously said immigrants are 'poisoning the blood of our country,' language that mirrors Adolf Hitler's rhetoric. A PBS documentary revealed Trump's father instilled beliefs about genetic superiority in the family.

Modern scientists have thoroughly debunked eugenics. Nazi Germany used eugenics ideology to kill over 70,000 adults and 5,200 children and forcibly sterilize more than 400,000 people.
