~1,500 people granted blanket clemency on Day 1 of second term. Included leaders of Oath Keepers and Proud Boys convicted of seditious conspiracy. Pardoned 600+ people convicted of assaulting law enforcement and 170 convicted of using deadly weapons. Removed restitution requirements costing victims estimated $1.3 billion.
The consequences are now documented. CREW found that at least 33 pardoned January 6 defendants have been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for other crimes. Six were charged with child sex crimes. Five with illegal weapons possession. Five with impaired driving (two resulting in fatalities). Two with rape. Andrew Paul Johnson was sentenced to life in prison for sexually abusing two middle-school-aged children — committed seven months after his pardon. Daniel Ball was rearrested one day after his pardon on weapons charges. Pardoned defendant Jake Lang was linked to a homemade explosive device thrown at NYC's Gracie Mansion in March 2026.
