Trump viciously turned on one of his most loyal allies, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, after she supported bipartisan legislation to release Jeffrey Epstein files. Greene claims Trump told her in a phone call (heard by her staff) he opposed release because 'his friends will get hurt.“ Trump also allegedly said Epstein survivors 'hadn't done anything to earn the honor” of visiting the Oval Office. Trump called Greene, “Wacky,” a 'ranting lunatic,“ and, ”TRAITOR," withdrawing all support.
Greene announced resignation from Congress on November 21, 2025, effective January 2026. The incident raised serious questions about Trump's connections to Epstein associates and demonstrated that even his most devoted defenders are expendable if they cross him.
Correction (September 30, 2026): this entry said the House passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act “despite Trump's opposition.” Trump had opposed the effort for months, calling it the “Jeffrey Epstein Hoax” in July 2025 and writing on November 12 that “Only a very bad, or stupid, Republican would fall into that trap.” But on November 16, two days before the vote, he reversed: “House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide.” He signed the bill on November 19. The entry now says so.
