In a Truth Social post on October 5, 2026, Trump used an anti-transgender slur three times to describe Annie Andrews, the Democratic nominee for the Senate in South Carolina, NBC News reported, as he urged voters to back Republican Sen. Darline Graham. Andrews is not transgender. Trump wrote that she is “not for South Carolina” and that “South Carolina must show, in the upcoming Election, that it is not for her.”
Former South Carolina Gov. David Beasley, a Republican, criticized the post: “This is abhorrent. Elections don't have to be about cruelty and lies. South Carolina deserves better.” Asked for comment, the White House referred NBC News to the post. A spokesperson for Graham did not address the Post and Courier's questions about the post.
