Trump Tells a North Carolina Rally That Camp Lejeune Water Victims Get 'No Money' if Republicans Lose

At a rally in Greenville, North Carolina, on October 20, 2026, Trump said of the veterans and families suing over contaminated water at Camp Lejeune: “if we win the House and the Senate, I am directing the Department of Justice to settle all remaining legitimate claims as soon as possible,” and, “So, if we don't win, there's no money. If we do win, you're getting it,” according to the Roll Call Factbase transcript. The claims are brought under the Camp Lejeune Justice Act; as of September 18 the Justice Department said settlement offers exceeded $1.1 billion and payouts exceeded $879 million, Military.com reported.

No settlement has been withheld. The entry records the president telling voters that payments owed under a federal law depend on how they vote, as with the Kentucky drug plant and the farm aid (see Trump Tells a Kentucky Rally the Pentagon Will Invest $100 Million in a Drug Plant 'If the Republicans Win' and Two Weeks Before the Midterms, Trump Unveils $8 Billion for Farmers at a Kansas Rally and Promises More 'When Republicans Win').
