Trump Attacks Jill Biden Over Her Memoir, Saying She Never Rushed to Help Her Husband 'as Any Good Wife Would Do'

On May 29, 2026, President Trump used Truth Social to attack former First Lady Jill Biden over revelations in her new memoir, in which she writes that she feared her husband was having a stroke during his June 2024 debate against Trump.

Trump wrote, “Jill Biden is now out there finally admitting that she did NOT know what went wrong with Sleepy Joe during our spectacular, and highly rated, 2024 Presidential Debate.” He continued, “She said that she thought he was having a 'stroke,' and various other really bad things, and yet never rushed onto the stage to help her troubled husband, as any good wife would do.” He then offered his own theory, asking whether his “strong performance” had caused Joe Biden to “plain and simple choke.”

Jill Biden's memoir, View from the East Wing, is due out the following week; excerpts were shared with The Atlantic, and she told CBS News she was “frightened” watching the debate and had never seen her husband like that “before or since.” Trump's post drew attention less for the jab at Joe Biden than for the line faulting Jill Biden for not behaving “as any good wife would do,” a gendered framing critics noted measures a woman's worth by her service to her husband.
