Trump Demands the Media Say 'JOB WELL DONE, MR. PRESIDENT' on Iran, Then Accidentally Calls His Own Presidency 'An Embarrassment'

On April 17, 2026, Trump went on a multi-platform meltdown demanding praise for the Iran ceasefire — a crisis he started.

On Truth Social, he wrote in all caps: “Why don't they just say, at the right time, JOB WELL DONE, MR. PRESIDENT, and start to gain back their credibility???” — demanding praise from the NYT and CNN for ending a war he launched. He called it the “STRAIT OF IRAN” (it's the Strait of Hormuz — he previously called it the “Strait of Trump” in March). He declared he would “MAKE LEBANON GREAT AGAIN.”

At a Las Vegas roundtable the same day, Trump said: “A year ago, our country was an embarrassment. All over the world, they laughed at us. They don't laugh anymore; they are not laughing.” The problem: a year ago was April 2025 — when Trump himself was president. He accidentally called his own presidency an embarrassment.

Rep. Katherine Clark (House minority whip): “Yeah. You were an embarrassment then, and you still are.”

The behavioral arc over 24 hours: demanded praise from media he attacks daily, accidentally insulted his own presidency, misspelled the waterway at the center of his foreign policy, posted “Nobody's laughing!!!” in all caps (widely mocked), and told workers “You're welcome” for a tax break 37% of them can't use — all while 13 U.S. soldiers are dead, gas is above $4, and Iran denies the “deal” he claims to have made.

  • 01Misspelled 'Strait of Hormuz' as 'STRAIT OF IRAN' — previously called it 'Strait of Trump'
  • 02Posted 'The U.S.A. is the HOTTEST Country' and 'Nobody's laughing!!!' in all caps — widely mocked
  • 03Declared he would 'MAKE LEBANON GREAT AGAIN'
  • 04Slammed NATO allies: 'I TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY... They were useless, a Paper Tiger!'
  • 05Demanding praise for ending a crisis he started — 13 US soldiers dead, $50B+ cost, gas above $4
  • 06Same Las Vegas speech included 'What's a corner store?' and calling the DoorDash stunt 'tacky'
